Research Infrastructure
Research Infrastructure at the Host Institution (University of Craiova, Romania)
Prof.dr.habil. Violeta Nour is the Director of the
Research Center for Applied Life Sciences and Biotechnology
at the University of Craiova.
The Laboratory for Food Quality and Safety
within this center is equipped with the necessary instruments and infrastructure for carrying out the project activities.
The following analyses on food products and extracts will be conducted in the University of Craiova laboratory:
proximate composition, titratable acidity, pH, color (CIELab system), total phenolic content, total anthocyanins, total flavonoids,
phenolic profile (HPLC analysis), acidic profile (HPLC analysis), antioxidant activity (DPPH, ABTS methods), lipid oxidation,
microbiological, and sensory analyses.
In addition, the infrastructure of the
Research Center for Biotechnology and Bioengineering
within INCESA (Infrastructure for Applied Sciences Research) of the University of Craiova may be utilized.
Our team has access to a U-HPLC system equipped with various detectors that allow applications in small molecule analysis,
as well as other instruments for sample preparation.
Research Infrastructure at the Partner Institution (State University “Bogdan Petriceicu Hașdeu” of Cahul, Republic of Moldova)
At the State University “Bogdan Petriceicu Hașdeu” of Cahul, two modern laboratories are operational for
physicochemical and microbiological analyses of food products.
The infrastructure (see details here)
allows studies on fruit by-product drying, bioactive compound analysis, and the development of new bakery and dairy products
with high functionality, along with the nutritional and functional characterization of these products.
